Abeer Asif, MSW, Intern

Hi, I am Abeer Asif, Master of Social Work (MSW) student at Aurora University, with a focus on Clinical/Medical Social Work. My journey began with an M.B.B.S. degree and hands-on medical experience in Pakistan, where I developed a solid foundation in patient care, advocacy, and collaboration. These experiences shaped my trauma-informed, client-centered approach to addressing mental health disparities and supporting vulnerable communities.

My work is guided by cultural humility, strengthened by my fluency in English and Urdu/Hindi, which allows me to connect deeply with diverse populations. I am also certified in Mental Health First Aid and have conducted research on family mental health issues, which has further driven my passion for mental health advocacy and evidence-based practices.

In addition to my academic and clinical endeavors, I have held leadership roles, including as National President of ICNA Sisters and Board Member at Helping Hand USA. These roles helped me develop my skills in policy design, budget management, and creating impactful programs, which I aim to bring to my social work practice. I am committed to fostering resilience, equity, and empowerment through my work.
